Based on a variety of data, we have determined the areas of need for grade three as reading, writing, and math. MSPAP reflects that 49.6 percent of our students are receiving a satisfactory score in reading, 44.4 percent in writing, and 35.9 percent in mathematics. All of these scores fall below the satisfactory rating on Maryland School Performance. Milestone data indicated that 31 percent of the third grade students were demonstrating satisfactory progress on Reading for literary experience, to be informed, and to perform a task. This data also shows that third grade students are writing at a satisfactory level on informative and persuasive assignments. However, our students need to improve skills in writing to express personal ideas.

CTBS reflects an average score of 62.6 percent in reading composite and 62 percent in math composite. These scores fall below a 70 percent satisfactory rating. Milestone data for fourth grade indicated that an average of 25 percent were performing on a satisfactory level with regards to Reading for literary experience, to be informed, and to perform a task. This data also shows that fourth grade students are writing at a satisfactory level on informative and persuasive assignments. However, our students need to improve skills in writing to express personal ideas. Based on a variety of data, we have determined the areas of need for grade five as reading, writing, and math. All of these scores fall below the satisfactory rating on Maryland School Performance. Milestone data indicated that 29 percent of the fifth grade students were demonstrating satisfactory progress on Reading for literary experience, to be informed, and to perform a task. This data also shows that fifth grade students are performing below a satisfactory level on writing to inform, persuade, and express personal ideas.
